Chuck D Announces New Solo Album Radio Armageddon, Shares “New Gens”: Stream

Chuck D is back with the announcement of a new solo album, Radio Armageddon, out May 18th via Def Jam. To stir up excitement, the Public Enemy co-founder has dropped “New Gens,” his first new solo single in seven years. Stream it below.

Featuring 14 tracks connected by transmissions from “Enemy Radio,” Radio Armageddon includes special guests Daddy-O of Stetsasonic, gangsta rap pioneer Schoolly D, Phill Most Chill, Universal Zulu Nation’s Donald D and Jazzy Jay, 1/2 Pint, ULTRAMAG7, Miranda Writes, The Impossebulls, and Blak Madeen.

As the title suggests, “New Gens” nods toward the current era of hip-hop (“New gens sparks the engine”) while Chuck D also reflects on his generation being thought of as “weird as hell” when he was coming up.

Chuck D released his most recent solo album, Celebration of Ignorance, in 2018. Public Enemy’s latest album, What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down?, came two years later in 2020.
