Superchunk Announce Album, Songs in the Key of Yikes, Release New Song: Stream

Superchunk has announced a new album. Their 13th record to date, Songs in the Key of Yikes, is out August 22nd via Laura Ballance and Mac McCaughan’s label Merge Records. Today, they’ve shared lead single and album opener, “Is It Making You Feel Something.”

“It’s always been the case that everyone is going through something that you may not be aware of,” frontman Mac McCaughan said about the album in a press release. “This is currently more true than ever–but also the case that we are all going through some things together. In the face of that, what good is art and where is happiness found? (Spoiler alert: I don’t know.)”

“[‘Is It Making You Feel Something’] is about not second-guessing yourself in the very second-guessable process of writing words and music,” McCaughan stated. “It’s about the legitimate question of ‘who needs this and what is it good for?’ but also about not setting such a high bar for making art that you never get started. ‘Is it making you feel something?’ Ok, that’s a place to start.”

Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth Trailer Teases “Predatory” New Species: Watch

The new trailer for Noah Hawley’s new FX series Alien: Earth (one of the most anticipated shows of 2025) teases its main premise: a crashed spaceship bringing the franchise’s dreaded Xenomorphs and other “invasive species” to our planet. Watch it below.“This ship collected five different life forms from the darkest corners of the universe,” one character reveals in the trailer, before hinting at a potential Predator crossover with the words: “Monsters … Invasive species. Predatory.” A distinct clicking sound, reminiscent of a creature from the Predator films, lends further credence to the idea of the two franchises crossing paths once again.
Here’s the official logline: “In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named ‘Wendy’ marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, ‘Wendy’ and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.”

Alien: Earth stars Sydney Chandler as Wendy, alongside a cast including Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, David Rysdahl, and Babou Ceesay, among others. Spanning eight episodes, the show will premiere on August 12th with two episodes on FX and Hulu. Subsequent episodes will drop weekly on Tuesdays.
